Nekoosa (WI) High School is a member of the South Central Conference (SCC) along with Adams-Friendship, Mauston, Wautoma, Westfield Area, and Wisconsin Dells. Nekoosa sports a proud football tradition, evident by them winning 13 conference titles since rejoining the SCC in 1982.
In the 2013 season, Nekoosa earned their 16th SCC title, recording 5 wins without a loss. The Papermakers have dominated league opponents over the past 5 seasons, winning 24 of 25 conference games. During that time, Nekoosa has won outright championships in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013; they shared the league title with Wautoma in 2010. The Papermakers have reached the WIAA post-season tournament 7 of the past 9 seasons. Their best tournament runs came in the 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 seasons when Nekoosa advanced to the elite 8 in Wisconsin's Division 4 field.
Jason Becker takes over the head coaching responsibilities this season, replacing Scott Hilber, who moved on to coach at Columbus High School. Hilber's teams compiled an impressive 49-34 overall record with 4 conference championships over the past 10 seasons.
